Franz Schuier - a sucker for random

Update: new video below.

"I finally finished it and would like to share with fellow synth lovers.

Except the drums and a bit of tertazzi and sunsynth here and there, the E.P. was done on a small buchla and a 5 panel serge.

"a sucker for random"

5 track E.P. exploring random voltages.

All tracks are based on underlying drumtracks programmed with analog drummachines. In contrast to the drumlines, the synths are driven by numerous random voltage techniques, using a Buchla Source of Uncertainty, Serge SSGs, Ciat Lombarde gear and a Serge TKB. More randomness was created by crossmodulating sources. E.g.: The SSG used the respective drum machine noise as source for the S&H.

Tracks were not arranged, but recorded as multitrack and then mixed/muted later on an analogue desk.

"The preserve of chance is a very amusing thing." M.Duchamp (Dialogues With Marcel Duchamp)

musik aus dem koffer von martin kratochwil

Published on Oct 2, 2012 by pianoloft

"electronic music devices, packed in old suitcases, called "musik aus dem koffer" (suitcase music). the components are considered as a sytem of single modules, put together for a whole setting, played like one instrument. in that case circuit bending devices from folktek (microgarden, omnichord), hellrunner synth, a modified synth by manufactured ZR30 and a feedback connection with korg od20 and alesis bitrman are working together.

the video is taken by my art-partner max lorenz at the wabi-sabi pavillion ( http://wabi-sabi-pavillion.blogspot.co.at/ ), music and dance-sequences by martin kratochwil.
have fun !"
