LibLab "Deep Space" - Sound

YouTube via machineheadusa
"'FIVE SENSES: INTERFERENCE'

'INTERFERENCE" exists as a result of MACHINE HEAD extending it's sound bending activities into the realm of light. Having created the LibLab (Library Laboratory) soundscapes we wanted to visualize the sounds with materials created to not just accompany the sound pieces, but be actually modified by them.

Using Max5, custom video processing patches were devised by Machine Head to use the sonic information within the LibLab pieces to cause distortions to the visual elements. The visuals are made up of two layers of film produced by Machine Head. Stephen Dewey's film "I Live In LA" was shot in thirty second bursts using the original Visor modular camera. The overlay footage was shot by Trevor Thorpe@MH. The net result is an intertwining of the two elements from within their own fabric.

MACHINE HEAD will continue to release FIVE SENSES: INTERFERENCE throughout the coming months."

What Happened?!

New free album from pc muñoz available at Talking House Records here.

"It's a little known fact: pc muñoz, San Francisco's genre-defying artist, producer of Joan Jeanrenaud's 2008 Grammy®-nominated contemporary classical cello album Strange Toys, creator of the award-winning twenty haiku multimedia project, and the man behind albums featuring everyone from rock legend Jackson Browne to Prince keyboardist Dr. Fink, started out as a DIY drummer/rapper named Giant Step.

'My Giant Step project (no relation to the NY-based label) was totally hip-hop. All rapping and original beats. A natural place for me to begin," muñoz notes. "I got encouragement from the start. The San Francisco Bay Guardian wrote me up, local clubs starting calling, I garnered some attention from little indie labels, and I was a finalist in a local rap contest. But just as things got interesting, I decided that presenting myself exclusively as a hip-hop MC wouldn't be the right (or sincere) path for me to pursue. Although I loved hip-hop, I had strong interests in other genres, and I wanted to cultivate a musical persona which could move fluidly between genres.'"

via pc muñoz on some of the instruments on the album: "I used a lot of vintage synths and toys, the Bee Gees Rhythm Machine, as well iphone apps, on this album."

Atlantic Storm - mono-poly

You might remember mono-poly from his modular noodles featuring various modular gear including Buchla, Elby Designs, Serge, Metalbox, Wiard, the Blippo Box, Cynthia, RSF, Klee and more.

He now has a new album out titled Atlantic Storm. The following is a blurb on the album from Strange Life Records, where you can pick it up.

"Monopoly's second album after releasing the ZOND3 CD on the Japanese Doppelganger records in 2008. Think of the great rural ambient sounds of Brian Eno's On Land mixed with dark isolationist dronescapes from the 1980s. Using rare modular synthesizers such as ancient EMS synthi's, Buchla's, Serge's etc. Atlantic Storm is the perfect music for a cold rainy day on the outer hebrides' atlantic shores...and that is ofcourse, just the way we like it. Probably one of the most essential rural ambient albums on strange life records so far! Comes in a DVD box with a Monopoly postcard. Check out the soundbytes here."

THE VX-323 - Chansons

You might remember the Bitnotic VX-323 voice synthesizer from this post.

THE VX-323 is also a music project, "I am The VX-323, singer, songwriter, speech synthesizer. My debut CD, Chansons, is out now. The CD is packed with robo-electronica like you've never heard before. Some of you will really dig my music, while there will be some who just don't get it. That's cool...

You can listen to tracks at MySpace or Last.fm. The links are at the top of the page, next to my name. The album is available NOW through Amazon, iTunes, CD Baby, Napster, and Lala."

You can find more info at http://thevx-323.com/.

I was on the fence on whether to post this here or on MATRIXSYNTH-C. MATRIXSYNTH is about the gear and MATRIXSYNTH-C is about the artists. I decided to post it on both as the album features the synth. I received a copy of the CD as a thank you for my prior post and I must say that I really like it so far. It's surprisingly soothing to the senses - great to unwind to.
