John Foxx/Steve D'Agostino/Alex Proyas
YouTube via JohnFoxxMetamatic — May 26, 2010 — "This is a two minute segment of Parallel Lives - a new cut-up collaboration between John Foxx, underground film-maker and musician Steve D'Agostino and movie director Alex Proyas, whose credits include I, Robot, Dark City and The Crow.
The new work will be screened at the Roundhouse on 5 June, just before Foxx's analogue electronic set.
According to Alex Proyas, 'If only my 18 year old self could've seen his film with an original John Foxx soundtrack he would've been beside himself with excitement . . . hell, my 48 year old self is pretty impressed too! Just wonderful.'
The short is a cut-up of Proyas's 1980 film Groping, set to a reworked version of the Foxx 1980 B-side 'Film One'.
I think apart from his incredibly cinematic lyrics, John's music has always conjured entire movies in my head when I listen to it,' says Proyas. 'I think it is his mastery of atmosphere that has stayed with me through the years. If I could only make a movie as textured and evocative as Johns music I would be a happy man."

Futuristication (Gregsynth Song)
YouTube via Gregsynth — May 14, 2010 — "After a long break from music (mostly related to my other 2 channels, and writer's block), I have finally (after dozens of recording sessions) composed a new song entitled "Futuristication." This song features the synthesizer as a prominent instrument (LOL), and I started to experiment with more arpeggiator/sequencer effects--plus a new idea called "Bit-Crusher." What that does is: It takes the sound I'm using (the drum tracks) and compresses the sound down from 1400 kb/s (recording quality), down to levels such as 32 kb/s (think of FLAC to Mp3 converting, but in a MUCH bigger level). It greatly distorts the sound, but it can lead to some very "robotic" and interesting results and effects! Enjoy!!
Instrumentation:
* Tons of synthesizers (Arp Oddity, Automat 1, and various samples of Old-School analog synths)
* Effects: Phasing, Flanging, Chorus, Tremolo, Delay, Arpeggiator/Sequencer, Bit-Crusher.
Note: I borrowed the bass-line from the rock band Queen's song "Dancer." Hope they don't sue me!

Komega - Perceive this Music
Komega - Perceive this Music from Sabina Fowler on Vimeo.
"Music: Komega
Co-Directors: Sabina Fowler & Komega (Craig Dorety)
Producer & Editor: Sabina Fowler
Spaceman: kc! Bradshaw
Special Thanks to: Veronica Gordon, Jim Campbell, Jodie Marko, Juilan Giardinelli, and David Luu
Electronic musician / LED artist Craig Dorety (craigdorety.com/) produced the music for this piece. Craig has been composing music for over 12 years and performing live for the last 7 years. He designs and builds his own custom controllers and utilizes them in his live performances. His most recent creations include creating custom audio-controlled LED artwork, some of which are featured in this video.
Video Producer Sabina Fowler (sabinafowler.com/) conceived and shot the spaceman portion of the project, providing inspiration for this piece. She also sorted the nuts and bolts to get the project done.
This video also features over 3,000 LEDs in artwork borrowed from Jim Campbell (jimcampbell.tv/). Jim Campbell has been creating artwork for over 20 years and has has been featured in international museums and galleries.
Special thanks to Veronica for "having the technology" and to kc! Bradshaw for wearing a thirty pound spacesuit for several hours. And thanks go Jodie Marko for kindly allowing us the use of the spacesuit. Final thanks to Julian Giardinelli who help sort some technical bits and to David Luu who was the final eye and feedback for the piece.
Without their help and the help of others, this video would have not been able to be made."

Franck Smith - Studies on fixed point theorems
"These 41 studies are part of the preparatory works realized during the conception/composition of "Théorème de point fixe" - a discographic publication by Franck Smith influenced by algebric topology and scientific concepts on abstract spaces, around the ''fixed point theorems'' of Solomon Lefschetz, Bonislaw Knaster and Alfred Tarski... "Studies on fixed point theorems" documents the genesis of the official cd release and contains only inedit sound material not used on the final disc."
